Greyhounds make greyt pets! Mossie will be 5 years old in July and is an ex racing greyhound and our volunteers love him! (If you are unfamiliar with the breed, please research greyhounds before applying) Mossie has raced 108 times and last raced on Christmas Eve 2021. He arrived with us on 21st April and is settling into life in his new kennel. Mossie is a little shy but we think that he is just unsure what's happening to him. He is getting used to human company and seems to like it very much! Mossie walks superbly on lead and travels well. Mossie and our other 2 greyhounds Allan and Nobby are all learning about life away from the race track. They are a little bewildered at the moment which is absolutely normal and they will settle and understand that life is not all about racing to a gun and being left 23 hours a day locked up. Over the coming days and weeks we will test them with other dogs and our resident cat and as their personalities emerge we will update applicants. It is highly likely though that all Mossie wants out of life is owners who understand what he has been through, lots of love and company and a nice soft bed to snooze on in his retirement. For now we are saying older dog savvy children ONLY however this may change as our assessment continues. No cats or small furries :-)
