Gizmo foster update; We've been fostering Gizmo for 10 days now and he's come a long way. When he came, he was growly and defensive about anything and everything. He particularly defended his bed, it was his territory and nobody was allowed near. He would not eat, even treats and was surviving on the odd bit of ham which he ate grudgingly. Not a great family pet you may think. So he went back to basic training and speaking to the team! It was his choice to come to us we didn't force ourselves on him. Keeping our voices on an even tone, we're not even allowed to argue! Lots of short walks and if he misbehaves, swift correction. He's surprised us both on how he has come along. His sweet personality shines through and it's evident that his aggressive stance came from a place of fear. With nothing to fear no growling is necessary. He's still on a house lead so any issues can be quickly dealt with but he now sleeps happily on a blanket where he is happy to be stroked and tickled and he's on the sofa with us in the evening, but between us not cuddled up so he doesn't feel he has to take sides, that will come later. He's now well on his way to becoming that easygoing companion we all want. He's not perfect, but he's not far off considering his start. He plays with us inside and in the garden. He will leave a toy or ball for you to pick up and throw, or tease him with, with no issue. He loves his walks and the great thing about a dog this size is if a great big out of control dog comes running towards you, you can just pick him up before having a go at their owner😂. He's almost there. All we need now is someone to carry on the work. It's not hard just a few simple rules and of course a lifetime of support from AHDR just a phone call away.🙌🏽 So now is the time for the right adopter to step up, now is the time for Gizmo to find the right forever home and to live his best life, while giving the joy of his cheeky, playful happy self to you. Sadly he has found himself in our care due to a change in circumstances, the family have tried to keep him but things haven’t worked out as planned. More details will be given at the later stages of the adoption process. ❤️‍🩹 Gizmo is a shy lad who needs a clam and chilled environment. He’s a gentle lad who has previously lived with other dogs, who sadly passed away. However he does enjoy being the centre of attention!😍🧡 This lad travels well and adores going out on adventures. He loves new places and being outside in general. Gizmo loves to sunbath and have a good sniff. He's a good traveller too.🐾😇 This little man would suit an home with older dog savvy children/ or visiting older children. He just want a simple life filled with love and walks. 🏡🤍  Gizmo has settled well in foster and will be a great companion to someone wanting a new best friend.
