Please say a gentle hello to Dougie ….. our latest spaniel !! Dougie is a 3 year Springer and is needing a forever home as his current family are full time workers with children and he is not living his best life. He is at least a 10 year commitment and typical of his age and breed, has boundless energy! Once Dougie trusts you he is your absolute best friend and adores you!! He is so desperate to please and so full of curiosity for life!! He currently happily lives with 2 young children and is cat friendly….. although we feel he would be suited to an adult only home or older dog savvy kids. He is currently left for over 6 hours on many occasions and handles this well……..needless to say we are looking for a home where he will get the attention he deserves. He is naturally full of energy and enthusiasm but he’s just not sure how to be a spaniel :-( We are looking for a breed experienced home where he can become a proper spaniel and use his dna. At the moment he is not sure what to do when out and about……he absolutely loves the outdoors but has not yet begun to use his nose …. He’s just like a kid in a sweet shop!! Unfortunately in his 3 years he has not seen much of the outside world and has developed some over stimulated reactions when he does see other dogs. He has already worked with our behaviourists and he is very encouragingly workable ……. Someone who knows what they’re doing will have a fabulous loyal pet in a very short time with consistent and rewarding training. Once he knows a dog he is very happy in its company…..he just takes a while to get there. He stays occasionally with a family dog he has known since he was a pup, however we feel he deserves a home where he can be the only dog. Dougie absolutely loves his toys and tennis balls. He adores a belly scratch, and a pamper with a wash and blow dry after a mucky walk …. and is highly trainable as he loves his treats. He is strong on lead but has been on a gencon and long line for the past 12 months ….. which are both supporting his lead work. But the main issue is his current lack of exercise. A tired mutt is a happy mutt :-) If you are seriously interested in this lovely lad please make an application (link below) and we will be in touch. Please do not call us about him, just e-mail in (FAO Alex) if you would like a chat before applying and we will be in touch with more details on this super lad!!
